The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations place a duty on employers to manage the use or production of substances in the workplace that have the potential to cause harm to employees and others. This awareness course looks at practical ways to address the key issues, conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments, and identify practical control measures in relation to the levels of risk posed to individuals within the working environment.
This short course is ideal for those that have a responsibility for purchasing or controlling hazardous substances or those who use hazardous substances as part of their job.
The course covers the following topics:
- Overview of legislation
- Classification of hazardous substances
- Harmful effects & routes of entry
- How to interpret safety data sheets
- How to conduct a risk assessment
- Control measures to meet legal requirements
- Reducing the risk to individuals health
Upon successful completion, candidates will be issued with an erfa e-certificate that can be downloaded and printed at home/work. This qualification has no expiry date; however it is recommended that candidates undertake refresher training every three years to ensure they remain up to date with current practices and legislation.
